After previous battle, new transfer station proposed in north Peoria

Some residents oppose new location

After a battle over a proposed transfer station in north Peoria that was withdrawn by Republic Services last year due to opposition from residents, another location has been proposed by the waste management company.

But some residents are not happy with the new location, dubbed the WestWing Recycling & Transfer Facility, which is planned to serve the far northwest Valley.

Dozens of nearby residents on social media have made comments opposing the new location citing a variety of reasons ranging from unpleasant fumes to more traffic, which Republic Services officials say will not be an issue.
