After Coyotes move to Utah, fans already hopeful a new NHL team will replace them in the Valley

After the NHL’s announcement Thursday that the Coyotes are leaving Arizona to relocate to Utah, Coyotes fans are already looking ahead to a new team hopefully coming to the Valley within the next few years.

Kenny McDinley, president of the Arizona High School Hockey Association, said he is confident the NHL will bring a team back to the Valley — whether through expansion or relocation. McDinley said he’s been a loyal Coyotes fan since they moved to Phoenix when he was three, missing few games in the early seasons and attending decked out in a jersey, helmet and glasses.

Between his experience as a fan and heading youth hockey, he believes the NHL won’t give up on the Valley as a hockey market.
