Advocates push Arizona abortion rights proposal to 2024 ballot

Effort to collect 350K signatures in two months falls short for 2022 ballot

Nine weeks after the Supreme Court leaked documents regarding the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Arizonans for Reproductive Freedom wrapped up gathering signatures for a petition to amend Article II of Arizona’s constitution.

In 61 days, the organization received 175,000 signatures out of 350,000 and decided to push the measure to the 2024 ballot.

“This is the largest volunteer-driven ballot measure campaign in the history of our state — and we are only just beginning,” Dr. Victoria Fewell, Tucson-based OB-GYN and chair of Arizonans for Reproductive Freedom, said in a press release.
