In addition to extra lanes, the stretch of Loop 101 with four exits in Glendale is getting a longer lasting and less noisy pavement surface in the next couple years.
This process, called diamond grinding, is part of a much larger $140 million Loop 101 improvement project between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17, Arizona Department of Transportation Spokesman Doug Nintzel stated in an email.
The primary focus is a Loop 101 widening project that includes pavement surface improvements. The two-and-a-half year project, slated to start this October, will add a lane in each direction along that section of Loop 101.
