INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Drivers need to plan ahead if they have ideas about traveling west this weekend on Interstate 10 between US 60 and I-17.
And that’s not all. State transportation officials also announced weekend work on State Route 143 between Broadway Road and Loop 202.
The work on both projects will take place from 10 p.m. Friday, May 31, to 4 a.m. Monday, June 3, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The I-10 bridge work, which will require the westbound closure between US 60 and I-17, also will close the ramps from westbound US 60 to westbound I-10 and the southbound SR 143 ramp to westbound I-10, an ADOT release stated.
The following ramps also will be closed this weekend:
The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Baseline and Broadway roads and 40th and 32nd streets.
The westbound US 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue.
The northbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive.
Detour: Use eastbound US 60 to northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 to access westbound I-10.
Drivers heading to the West Valleycan bypass the work zone by using Loop 202 west and north to connect with I-10 at 59th Avenue, according to ADOT.
Airport Access: Motorists traveling to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from the East Valley should use the northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 and use the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance. Motorists traveling on southbound I-17 should use westbound I-10 to access the airport entrance at Buckeye Road.
