Drivers should plan for overnight night restrictions beginning Sunday night along Interstate 17 between State Route 74 and Anthem Way.

Overnight pavement project work requires the addition of northbound and southbound I-17 lane restrictions, state transportation officials said.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following:

The southbound I-17 on- and off-ramps at Pioneer Road will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday, Jan. 11 and ending Wednesday morning, Jan. 14.

• • On-ramp detour: Drivers may consider using eastbound Pioneer Road to southbound Gavilan Peak Parkway/North Valley Parkway to westbound SR 74/Carefree Highway to access I-17.
  • Off-ramp detour: Drivers may consider exiting at Daisy Mountain Drive and taking southbound Gavilan Peak Parkway/North Valley Parkway to access Pioneer Road.

New work:

Southbound I-17 between Anthem Way and SR 74 will be narrowed to one lane nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday and ending Tuesday morning.

Northbound I-17 between SR 74 and Anthem Way will be narrowed to one lane nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday and ending Thursday morning.

Crews will be moving around the area each night based on progress, ADOT officials said. The northbound lane restrictions could start sooner if the southbound work progresses faster than anticipated.
