The Recreation Centers of Sun City West will close the Palm Ridge Activities Building and R.H. Johnson’s Social Hall facility on Sundays, effective Sept. 1.

For R.H. Johnson, only the Social Hall will be closed on Sundays. Other locations such as the Courtyard (club rooms), Sports Pavilion, Library, ARC and Men’s Club will not be affected. For Palm Ridge, the Sunday closure involves the Activities Building only, not the Swim & Fitness Center.

At either venue, management may open on a given Sunday for certain pre-approved events and will work with the chartered clubs as needed. Starting Sept. 1, the hours will be:

• Palm Ridge: o Activities Building: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays with the exception of approved events. o Swim & Fitness Center: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

• R.H. Johnson: o Social Hall: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays with the exception of approved events. o Courtyard: open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday. o Swim & Fitness Center: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Additionally, the Rec Centers management is preparing for several upcoming closures and will adjust Children’s Swim Hours to accommodate that.

Children’s Swim Hours at Palm Ridge and Beardsley will be extended from July 24 to Aug. 11. During that time, children may swim at Palm Ridge from 2 to 6 p.m.; and at Beardsley between 4 and 8 p.m. Upcoming facility closures for maintenance and capital projects include:

• RHJ Social Hall was closed for screening and sealing of the hardwood floor on Wednesday, July 5. Scheduled to reopen Wednesday, July 26.

• Palm Ridge Activities Building closed for hardwood screen and seal work July 24-Aug. 6

• RHJ Pool closed for deck work July 24-Aug. 11.

• Sports Pavilion closed for new lanes and ball returns, as well as annual maintenance, July 30-Sept. 10.

• Stardust Golf Course parking lot seal and restripe from July 29-30.

• Deer Valley parking lot seal and stripe Aug. 4-5.

• Kuentz parking lot seal and stripe sections 1, 2 and 3 Aug. 12-20

• Kuentz walking track seal coat Aug. 12-13

• RH Johnson parking lot mill and resurface section 3 Aug. 21-Sept. 15

• Grandview Pro Shop parking lot mill and resurface Aug. 28-Sept. 22

• Beardsley Arts & Crafts parking lot mill and resurface Sept. 11-29

• RH Johnson parking lot seal and stripe for lot 2 (Library to ARC) Sept. 22-27

• RH Johnson parking lot seal and stripe for lot 1 (ARC to Tennis) Sept. 26-29
