ACC approves EPCOR rate increase for Sun City

Rates expected to increase 21 percent

The Arizona Corporation Commission has voted to approve the Luke 303 Wastewater rate consolidation sought by EPCOR, a utility company that manages water, wastewater, natural gas and electricity distribution systems.

A statement released by the ACC explains the decision means Sun City rates are expected to increase 21%, which is an increase on average of $7.97 per month, up to $46.56 per month, from $38.59. The ACC reported customers in the Luke 303 Wastewater District expect a nearly $32 monthly decrease, from $78.18 to a new lower rate of $46.56. The commodity rate for industrial consumers in the Luke area will increase to $11.08. The new rates are retroactive to April 1.

The ACC voted 3-2 to consolidate wastewater resources and share the expenses between customers. This equalizes the rates between vastly diverse customers including Sun City, a retirement community, and the growing community surrounding Luke Air Force Base.
