Abrazo West Campus announced its newly refreshed labor and delivery department, which is designed to provide mothers and babies with enhanced comfort, care and technology before, during and after childbirth.

Among the most anticipated upgrades is the introduction of the AquaDoula, a heated, portable birth spa/pool. Developed with the utmost care for laboring mothers, the AquaDoula offers a warm, calming environment and has become a top choice for midwives and expectant parents seeking a soothing experience during labor, according to a press release.

The department also now features a wireless fetal monitoring system, bringing competitive technology to the forefront of maternal care.

This system allows mothers to move freely during labor while providing continuous, wireless monitoring of fetal and maternal heart rates, contractions and uterine activity, the release stated. The data is instantly transmitted to hospital clinicians, ensuring both safety and comfort.

Dr. Jordan Oland, physician and partner at Estrella Women’s Health Center and Women’s Health Arizona, said in the release that this wireless monitoring system is a game changer for improving the labor and birthing experience.

"By eliminating the need for continuous cords, it allows women greater mobility during labor, which can significantly enhance the overall experience," Oland said.

Abrazo West Campus CEO Hans Driessnack added in the release that this newly refreshed department reflects its commitment to delivering exceptional care to women and their families in the West Valley.

“Having a baby is a life-changing event. Our goal is to provide personalized, compassionate care that makes the birthing experience as healthy and joyful as possible,” Driessnack said.

As one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States, the West Valley is experiencing tremendous growth, and Abrazo West Campus is committed to expanding its services to meet the needs of its population, the release added.

With experienced medical professionals and the latest in medical technology, Abrazo West Campus remains dedicated to offering unparalleled care for mothers and babies, before, during and after childbirth.
