The medical staff from Abrazo Scottsdale Campus and Abrazo Central Campus are supporting local charities and schools through donations.

The hospitals’ medical staff set aside $35,000 to be given by the end of the year to local charities. That will bring its total to $80,000 in community contributions in the last two years, according to Chief of Staff Dr. James (Pat) Carty.

Dr. Carty and Abrazo Central and Scottsdale hospital representatives have in recent weeks presented checks on behalf of the medical staff to organizations like Circle the City, St. Mary’s Food Bank, Kitchen on the Street, West Valley Heart Walk, Child Crisis Arizona, Justa Center, Greenway Middle School, Paradise Valley High School and Palomino Intermediate School.

Donations will help fund needed supplies for the charities and schools. An example of the impact of contributions was voiced by Greenway Middle School Principal Jorge Ontiveros.

“You have supported the Greenway staff and students with many opportunities in the classroom. Not only are you impacting teachers and many programs, most importantly you are impacting our entire school community. We can’t thank you enough for your support and your generosity,” said Ontiveros.

The donations are intended to fill any gaps in need for the recipient organizations, according to Dr. Carty.

“We are so grateful for these organizations and educators for their great work taking care of those in need and dedication to students in our communities near the Abrazo Central and Abrazo Scottsdale Campuses,” said Dr. Carty. “We look forward to continuing to support those who make a difference in our communities.”
