A new type of school opens in Queen Creek

A new school in Queen Creek isn’t exactly a one-room schoolhouse, but it is in a house.

Opening its doors on Aug. 1, Adamo Queen Creek will be Tamara Becker’s second “micro-school” in the Valley and her home serves as the school. Becker, president and CEO of Adamo Education, is an educator with more than 25 years of experience in traditional, charter, online and hybrid school models. Becker said she took the best from each of the teaching models to create her micro-schools.

“Adamo comes from the Latin word ‘to fall in love with,’ and I want kids to love learning,” Becker said. “I don't want them to just be sitting there falling asleep in a classroom of 30 kids. We won't have any more than 12 students with one certified teacher and those students are multi-age, multi-grade.”
