Two long-time social service providers have formed a partnership to assist domestic and sexual abuse survivors.

A New Leaf, a Mesa nonprofit, and Community Alliance Against Family Abuse, an Apache Junction nonprofit, have merged to better serve the community, according to a release.

Current programs and facilities will remain in place while A New Leaf phases in additional services.

Resources will be available to survivors seeking a safe and secure place to get back on their feet. The new partnership provides housing, children’s services, court advocacy and case management programs to help navigate complex issues. Classes on financial literacy will also be offered to help empower and build money management self-sufficiency, the release states.

Dana Martinez, A New Leaf’s director of domestic and sexual violence services, will oversee the transition.

“CAAFA has a rich history of providing exceptional services to those experiencing domestic and sexual violence in Apache Junction and Eastern Pinal County. A New Leaf is honored to be aligned with CAAFA and the diverse programs offered. We’re looking forward to the collaboration process in expanding additional social services which will strengthen our communities,” Martinez said.

CAAFA, which was founded in 1998, has a mission that uses collaboration, support and outreach to empower individuals and families to break the cycle of abuse.

A New Leaf has been serving Maricopa County since 1971 as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
