A new era: Kiva Elementary hosts official ground breaking ceremony

Kiva Elementary School officially broke ground on its campus modernization project, estimated to cost $18.5 million, during an Aug. 19 ceremony featuring community members, district officials and Paradise Valley leaders.

Built in 1957, Kiva Elementary School, 6911 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, was the sixth school to be named by Scottsdale Unified School District officials to be renovated a part of a 2016 voter-approved bond.

Earlier this year, the school board accepted a construction manager at risk agreement between the district and McCarthy Building Companies, while Orcutt-Winslow is the architect.
