A call to service for those whom the bell tolls is a unique draw for each.

For Town of Paradise Valley resident Dr. Fred Lau, the call to service came during a time when patriotism, historians record, was challenged by an unpopular conflict known today as the Vietnam War.

But even though it was an unpopular decision at the time, Dr. Lau, according to his Person of Distinction nomination, felt a call to service to the U.S. Armed Forces serving as Captain in the U.S. Army.
