Since starting its mission in 2009, Honor Flight Arizona soon will hit an important milestone: its 100th trip providing a special service for local war veterans.
In that time, more than 2,500 Arizona veterans have been flown to Washington D.C.
The organization recognizes U.S. armed forces World War II veterans, U.S. Armed Forces Cold War Veterans, U.S. armed forces Korean War Veterans and U.S. armed forces Vietnam War Veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying them to Washington to see their memorial at no cost.
