Horizon Health and Wellness and the city of Apache Junction will be hosting the 9th Annual Earth Day Festival for the community, neighbors and families to enjoy free family fun outdoors at Earth Heart Park & Community Garden.

The event is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at 625 N. Plaza Drive in Apache Junction.

The highlight of the festival is the 9:15-10:30 a.m. release of thousands of ladybugs, which is a hands-on experience for all the children.

Participants will learn how keeping our community healthy keeps us healthy, according to a release.

“You can plant seedlings, listen to music, create art, and sample fresh veggies and fruit,” it states.

The event will include food trucks, gardening education, arts and crafts vendors, petting zoo, inflatables, piñatas, face painting, balloon artists, inflatables, “ask the doc” booth, teddy bear/doll clinic, stilt walkers, passport to raffle prizes, seed planting, rock painting, Horizon’s cubby bear mascot and other activity centers.
