75-acre housing development planned next to Hurricane Harbor in north Phoenix

Development will include 5.8 acre of commercial

A large planned housing development next to the Hurricane Harbor water park in north Phoenix took a step toward being approved last week with passage through the Phoenix Planning Commission.

Final approval for a rezoning and general plan amendment to allow the 294-unit, 74.5-acre housing development along with 5.8-acre commercial area along Pinnacle Peak Road now goes to the Phoenix City Council.

The developer has not yet made plans for what would go on the commercial parcel.
