A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol while seven children were in the vehicle.

Erica Rodriguez, 34, of Surprise, faces charges of endangerment, DUI and child abuse.

Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a vehicle for an unsafe lane use on Loop 303 south of Indian School Road.

The trooper found seven children, ages 5 to 15, inside the vehicle without seat belts or child restraints.

The trooper detected an odor of alcohol and asked Ms. Rodriguez to complete a sobriety test.

Afterwards, she was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

DPS found three open alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle.

DPS learned Ms. Rodriguez has had her license suspended several times. DPS did not state her blood alcohol concentration at the time.

She was jailed in lieu of a $4,500 bond.
