6,600 acres annexed into Apache Junction

Getting from the northern to the southern boundary of Apache Junction takes a lot more time with the annexation of 6,600 acres south to the State Route 24 alignment.

The city annexed 10 square miles in the first bite out of a 275-square-mile swath of master-planned land known as Superstition Vistas.

The Apache Junction City Council recently approved the 6,600-acre annexation and other items related to the proposed land development such as zoning, engineering and development standards. The latter pertain to master-planned communities to be constructed on 2,783.13 acres sold at auction by the Arizona State Land Department to a homebuilder and the remainder of the property, which is to be retained by the State Land Department.
