60 dogs now have homes after Peoria Police rescue

An animal investigation that resulted in the rescue of 60 dogs from an unsanitary house in Peoria has resulted in a happy ending.

Police spokesperson Kristopher Babros said the dogs have homes after they were removed from an “extremely unsanitary” residence in Peoria about two weeks ago.

“Today we are pleased to report significant progress,” Babros said. “Due to our coordinated efforts and strong community support, only eight dogs remain in our care at the Peoria Police animal control kennels. Out of those eight dogs, all of them are going to be removed to a rescue tomorrow. So as of right now all 60 dogs that Peoria PD received during this investigation have been placed in rescue homes or adopted.”
