6 months since marijuana became legal, Glendale sectors offer insight

For at least one marijuana consumer, the biggest impact of Proposition 207, which legalized recreational weed in Arizona, has been safety.

Statewide voters in November 2020 overwhelmingly decided adults should be able to buy, possess and consume marijuana as they see fit. Clearly many residents were using it anyway before the ballot measure, but going to a regulated place of business rather than underground to get it makes a difference to Glendale resident Amanda, who asked not to use her last name.

“It was so much easier to buy it,” she said of the transition to obtaining marijuana legally. “Before that I had to go to weird, random houses. It’s really nice to just be able to walk in somewhere where it’s safer.”
