A total of 87 projects with a combined cost of $55.77 million are proposed to be in Pinal County’s 2021 five-year transportation improvement and maintenance program.
“This program is the county’s near-term transportation plan — our guide that identifies projects in the current, upcoming and following three budget years,” Tara Harman, senior transportation planner for the county, said at an April 14 special session of the board of supervisors.
Funding for county-wide construction, reconstruction and maintenance of roads is from revenue generated from a half-cent transportation excise tax approved by Pinal County voters in a special election in November 2005, she said.
