Pinal County is seeking a $500,000 fire-prevention grant to help pay for clearing of right of way in the city of Apache Junction, adjacent county areas and in Gold Canyon.
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on May 24 voted unanimously in a consent agenda with other items to approve an application to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management’s Healthy Forest Initiative for the funding.
The grant is for a joint project with the city of Apache Junction and requires a match totaling 10% to 30% of the total project, according to an application filed through Pinal County Public Works Director Andrew Smith.
