Chandler police responded shortly after 7 p.m. Nov. 17 to the 7100 block of West Ray Road after receiving information about a person “demonstrating disorderly behavior toward other citizens in the parking lot,” the release stated.

An officer saw that the woman had an unholstered firearm near her, and she was given commands not to touch the weapon, police said, adding she did not comply.

“The suspect grabbed the weapon and made a threatening move with it toward the officer.  The officer fired two shots at the suspect, which struck her in the upper chest,” the release stated.

The woman was taken into custody, and medical aid was provided, police said.

The officer was uninjured.
