5-story apartment building by Kierland Commons receives first planning approval

A five-story, 360-unit apartment building planned across the street from the Kierland Commons shopping center took a step toward approval last week.

Phoenix’s Paradise Valley Village Planning Committee unanimously approved a general plan and rezone change for a 7.1-acre property at the southeast corner of Kierland Boulevard and Greenway Parkway that would greenlight the developer to demolish the one-story offices on the property to make way for a 68-foot-tall apartment building with adjoining parking garage.

Phoenix’s Planning Commission still must approve the changes, which it will review during a Thursday, May 6, meeting.
