42 votes apart, Ansari and Terán head to runoff in CD3 Congressional primary

A neck-and-neck race in the Democratic Primary of Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District is heading to a runoff.

Former Phoenix City Councilmember Yassamin Ansari leads former State Sen. Raquel Terán by just 42 votes, or 0.098%. Arizona law requires any race within half a percent to go to an automatic runoff.

The winner of the runoff will advance to face Jeff Zink, who won the Republican primary with 65.6% of the vote.
