WEST VALLEY PREPS

4-year Liberty volleyball duo comes full circle

Davey, Neal mentor Lions’ star freshmen

Kylie Davey and Kaitlyn Neal were the first freshmen to make the Liberty volleyball varsity in three years.

Even though both came up big, with more than 100 kills in their freshman season, they both described the experience as nerve wracking.

“My assistant coach and I told them they have to remember what it was like to be freshmen when they were here. And our culture has changed since then. It wasn’t always welcoming and we were still in the ‘freshmen don’t make varsity’ stage here. We’re a little more accepting of that but there’s still that, ‘you’re just a freshman,’ thought. So they’ve really tried to shift that because she deserves to be here,” Liberty coach Ashley Leparulo said.
