Four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting last month of a Wendy’s employee, Mesa police said.

The shooter was identified as Michael Kidd, 23, according to police. The other three were identified as Kendrick Bessix, 23, Nyjah Durant, 29, and Maurice Miles, 20.

The shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. March 14 at the Wendy’s at Greenfield Road and Main Street where police found a 21-year-old employee had been shot.

Authorities said witnesses provided descriptions of three suspects who lured the victim out of the restaurant and assaulted him before a fourth suspect wearing a yellow jacket approached and shot the victim several times in the face.

Video surveillance from nearby businesses confirmed witness accounts of what occurred.

“Further investigation showed that five days prior . . . police officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle with the victim inside. This vehicle was occupied by four other people, one of which was wearing a yellow jacket,” police said in a release.

All four suspects are facing multiple felony charges, including attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault and weapon offenses.

The suspects remain behind bars with bonds ranging from $50,000 to $251,000, police said.
