3 Peoria Unified schools to close open enrollment

Decision comes because of overcrowding

Because of overcrowding from explosive growth in north Peoria, Lake Pleasant and Sunset Heights elementary schools along with Liberty High School will not have open enrollment for the 2021-22 school year.

The Peoria Unified School District governing board voted Sept. 23 unanimously to close open enrollment at these schools.

Current enrollment at Liberty High School is 2,505. It is projected to hit 2,537 this school year. Maximum capacity at this school is 2,496.
