Phoenix police are investigating a shooting that left three men dead in a south Phoenix neighborhood.

The three killed were identified as Steven Brooks, 23, Davide Rashad, 40, and Davontae Fletcher, 20. Police identified Brooks as the victim and Rashad and Fletcher as the suspects.

Officers responded about 9:10 p.m. Sept. 23 to a shooting reported near 24th Street and Southern Avenue and on their way saw that two vehicles had collided. A man with at least one gunshot wound was found in one of the vehicles, police said.

Authorities then received a call from a nearby restaurant about a man inside the business who was suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a release.

One of the men told police they had been shot at a residence near 23rd Street and Lynne Lane. Both of the gunshot victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to the home and found two men dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Another man was found dead in an alley.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and, according to the release, preliminary information suggests two men, at least one of them armed with a weapon, entered the home.

“The adult male victim shot one of the suspects, who hid in a separate room. The adult male victim heard a relative yelling for help when he ran back out and shot the second suspect,” the release stated.

Detectives were continuing to work the case Wednesday, including how the victim in the alley was involved.
