3 Arizona DPS sergeants ran to honor fallen troopers in Tempe ironman competition

Sergeants Jason Christie, Jason Coughlin and Jason Covert completed the Paradox Ironman 70.3 Arizona last month in Tempe, in honor of three fallen Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers.

All three sergeants are part of the DPS Training and Management Services Bureau, working with cadets and lateral troopers in academy classes to prepare them for their careers with the department, according to a release.

These sergeants began their training for this Oct. 22 event in May, working on their distance swimming, running and cycling in preparation for the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike course, and 13.1-mile run.

These sergeants began their training for this Oct. 22 event in May, working on their distance swimming, running and cycling in preparation for the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike course, and 13.1-mile run.

Each sergeant wore a fallen trooper’s name – Tyler Edenhofer, Timothy Huffman and Bruce Harrolle - and their end-of-watch dates.

The three men finished the event in under six hours and 40 minutes, the release stated.
