A vacant infill parcel among single-family housing in Maryvale is planned for a 288-unit apartment complex.
The developer, the NRP Group, hit a hiccup in the development process, requiring a time extension for its preliminary site plan approval with the city of Phoenix for what will be called the Desert Sky Apartments.
A general plan amendment for the 10.75-acre property at the southwest corner of 69th Avenue and Thomas Road was approved on Dec. 5, but the attached rezone was not formally approved until January. City staff and the Phoenix Planning Commission made changes to the long list of what is now 34 stipulations for the rezoning.
