23 people have died from heat this season in Maricopa County

Maricopa County health officials have confirmed that 23 people have died from the heat this season, and 322 deaths are under investigation.

The weekly reporting period ended Saturday with 17 death caused by the heat and six in which the heat was a contributing factor, according to the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

Those remaining under investigation involve individuals where the county medical examiner suspects a heat-related death.

Maricopa County health officials have confirmed that 23 people have died from the heat this season, and 322 deaths are under investigation.

The weekly reporting period ended Saturday with 17 death caused by the heat and six in which the heat was a contributing factor, according to the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

Those remaining under investigation involve individuals where the county medical examiner suspects a heat-related death.

Males made up 70 percent of the heat deaths, statistics show.
