$22M Luke AFB childcare investment eases crisis for military families

President Donald Trump recently signed the annual Agriculture and Rural Development funding bill into law securing $22 million for a new Child Development Center at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. The funding is intended to provide a necessary lifeline to military families accros the West Valley who have struggled with a nationwide childcare crisis.

The investment, advocated for by Arizona Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, is expected to create an on-base facility capable of serving an estimated 250 to 300 children, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, according to information provided bySenator Gallego’s office. The current facility at Luke is aging and severely undersized, unable to meet the growing needs of service members and their families stationed at the base.
