At its last work session discussion, Tempe City Council discussed in detail of proposed programs to receive funding from 2021 tribal gaming grants.
Arizona legislation “requires participating tribal communities to contribute 12% of their annual gaming proceeds to local governments for services that benefit the general public, including public safety, mitigation of gaming impacts, and the promotion of commerce and economic development,” as stated in city documents.
The 21 programs described in the proposal are meant to provide added services and opportunities including park improvements and community art programming to enhance the quality of life of those in the community, city leaders contend.
