MESA — Even though Cactus will likely be the favorite in five of its first six games of the 2026 high school football season, the Cobras already need to overcome some complacency, Coach Brian Belles said.
And at least one of the Cobras seniors agrees.
“After an hour bus ride over here, we could have been more effective,” H-back Jeremiah Angulo said after the team’s Aug. 19 scrimmage at Eastmark. “I feel like we definitely came out flat. I feel I need to be an example for the younger kids, because it’s a culture shock to them.”
