At first blush, ALA-West Foothills’ football roster and its goals appear mutually exclusive.
The Guardians have five seniors on their roster. And they want to play so well that the AIA is forced to move the program up to 4A next year — which would require at least making the 3A state title game.
One of those seniors, defensive end J.J. Brutus, is among the best players in 3A after racking up 22.5 sacks last season. He is flanked by eight juniors that started on last season’s No. 5 seed, all eager to get the young school’s first playoff win — plus a couple more.
