No one in 5A will feel sorry for Cactus football and its depth issues after the Cobras debuted as the 2022 conference runners up.
That goes for the Cactus program, which is used to overcoming the odds. So what are this year's primary puzzles?
Unlike the top teams they're competing with, Cobras starting quarterbck Braiden Lagafuaina will have to start and play a majority of snaps on defense, at safety. And Cactus must replace one of the best pass rushers in program history in Dominic Solano (27.5 sacks, 48 tackles for loss), plus junior defensive end Gabe Rodriguez (7.5 sacks), who transferred to O'Connor.
