2023 Maricopa County eviction filings come close to breaking record

Maricopa County eviction filings in 2023 were elevated and nearly broke a record set almost 20 years ago, according to preliminary numbers from the Maricopa County Justice Courts.

Last year’s 83,236 eviction filings fell 451 cases short for the most evictions in a calendar year, said Scott Davis, a spokesman for Maricopa County Justice Courts.

The latest numbers aren’t final because there is about a week lag with some cases filed at the end of December have not been heard in court, Davis said.
