The Kellis Cougars made a major leap a year ago. And after bidding farewell to the soul of their offense, bringing in key transfers who will start right away, and blending a core group of sophomores into the mix, they had to get to know themselves all over again this summer.
They went north.
The team spent four days and three nights training this July at Camp Tontozona in Payson. Team rules prohibited cellphones, so the players focused instead on hiking trails at 5,000-feet elevation with the Tonto National Forest as a backdrop and themselves for company.
