It certainly was not easy for Shadow Ridge football to have a breakthrough season in 2020, trying to make a smaller 6A playoff field with a new coach and stop-and-start offseason.
The Stallions came through in Sean Hegarty’s first season, finishing 6-2 and playing its first postseason game since 2013.
This fall the varsity faces a very different — and in some respects more difficult — challenge. The large and talented senior class that led the playoff drive has graduated, and a younger team has to adjust to the varsity and try to maintain the program’s upward trajectory.
