For a second straight fall high school football teams are navigating their way around and through the COVID pandemic, and it’s hard to tell if things are worse or better than last year.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) so far has seen 10 teams from across the state cancel Week 3 games. And the AIA’s George Werner reports that, as of Aug. 27, four programs “are done for the fall — and quite possibly the foreseeable future,” with five other teams facing an uncertain schedule after being forced to cancel their initial games due to positive COVID tests among coaches and players.
The Deer Valley program hasn’t been immune.
