The 2020 Westgate shooter was sentenced to 44 years in prison Friday followed by seven years of probation.
The 44-year imprisonment given by the Maricopa County Superior Court was the maximum sentence allowed under the defendant’s guilty plea.
Peoria resident Armando Hernandez Jr., 23, this past April pleaded guilty to four counts, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, stemming from the night of May 20, 2020, at approximately 7:25 p.m., when he carried an AR-15 assault weapon and three fully loaded magazines and walked almost the length of the Westgate Entertainment District targeting people and/or couples his age.
