2-vehicle collision kills 9-year-old waiting to cross Chandler street

Posted

A 9-year-old  died Saturday near Ray Road and Coronado Street when a collision sent one of two vehicles onto a sidewalk striking the boy and a man waiting to cross the intersection, police said.

The boy died at a hospital following the collision that occurred about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11. The man was in the hospital Saturday afternoon in critical condition, police said.

Preliminary information indicates that a two-vehicle left-turn accident occurred at intersection.  One of the vehicles "left the roadway, went onto the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians waiting to cross the street," police said.

No impairment is suspected, according to police, who are withholding the victims' identitities pending notification of family members.
