One teen is dead and another hospitalized following a shooting Tuesday near 13000 South 48th Street, Phoenix police said.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. May 28, and officers arrived at the scene to find a teenage boy with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, police said Wednesday.

Nearby, a vehicle had collided with a tree and inside was Malachi Henningham, 17, who suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest, police said.
