An influx of food and other donations boosted the Valley View Community Food Bank, 10771 W. Peoria Ave., during a very tough holiday season.
Members of two Sun City clubs rounded up two carloads of nonperishable food and gathered some monetary donations and gave them Dec. 14 to the food bank officials. The food could not have come at a better time as the food distribution agency has seen larger demand and fewer donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We knew they were going through some rough times and wanted to find some way to help out,” said Sun City resident Steve Collins. “There are a lot of people in need right now.”
