2 new apartment complexes near State Farm Stadium approved in contentious vote

Planning commission, city council approval still needed

A Phoenix committee approved a rezoning to allow for two new apartment complexes near State Farm Stadium in west Phoenix.

The approved request to amendment to a planned unit development will go to the planning commission for a vote on Thursday, Aug. 4 and then city council for final approval.

The developer is branding the apartments as affordable units for essential workers with jobs in the existing and future businesses in the Westgate area and beyond.
