$2 million shade structure going up at Scottsdale city hall

Despite the concerns of some community members and city council members, Scottsdale City Hall will get a $2 million parasol shade structure with solar panels on top.
The city council voted 5-2 during its Oct. 21 meeting to move forward with the project that was part of the 2019 bond package.

Mayor Lisa Borowsky and Vice Mayor Adam Kwasman were the votes against awarding the construction contract to Ameresco, Inc., which is headquartered in Framingham, Mass., but has offices in Phoenix and Chandler.
