2 men die in Friday night Phoenix collision

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Friday night near 43rd and Orangewood avenues.

The collision occurred about 10:30 p.m. April 18 when, according to preliminary information, a vehicle driven by Donnie Martinez, 23, was headed north on 43rd Avenue when it crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Ricardo Quintero, police stated in a release.

The men were taken to a hospital, but they did not survive their injuries, police said.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor. Toxicology results are pending, police said.
