Two teachers from the Glendale education community are up for Arizona Teacher of the Year honors.
The Arizona Educational Foundation named the 10 candidates under consideration for the award, whose winner ultimately becomes the state’s candidate for National Teacher of the Year.
Among the 10 nominees are Lindsey Peterson, English teacher at Apollo High School, 8045 N. 47th Ave., in the Glendale Union High School District, and Alyssa Weed, music teacher at Acacia Elementary School, 3021 W. Evans Drive, of the Washington Elementary School District, whose 32 schools serve east Glendale and north central Phoenix. Peterson is also a Washington Elementary School District governing board member.
